Joanne Alice Coleman-Robertson will be exhibiting her recent work in the Back Room Gallery from July 17-23, 2012.
A young retiree and a Québec City native, Joanne has participated in a number of group and solo exhibitions throughout the years.
"Eye Candy", her second exhibit at Howes Hall Gallery, is a celebration of nature and life. Particularly interested in the beauty of everyday scenes, Joanne works primarily in oils, using a realistic style where pops of colour are the focal point. The etching of paint surfaces contribute to her signature style.
Joanne's exhibition also features one-of-a-kind art cards. These small works on paper are gestural and colourful, incorporating acrylic ink, watercolours, and oil pastel.

Spirit of the Seasons - Brenda Jones
Brenda Jones will be exhibiting her latest work at Howes Hall Gallery from July 22 to July 29.
This is her second show in the Back Room Gallery, the first being a collection of her paintings from the book I is for Island, A Prince Edward Island Alphabet, for which she won the Lillian Shepherd Award for Illustration.
This year's exhibit will feature a selection of acrylic landscapes that explore the colours and light and moods of the changing seasons, so much a part of our life here on the Island. Her realistic style and vibrant colours reflect this perfectly, from the textures of an old tree framed by fallen leaves to the twisted beauty of a sun-bleached piece of driftwood; from the rugged red cliffs eroded by the waves to the crispness of a snow-blanketed meadow. Each one creates a mood, sparks a memory, touches the spirit.
Having worked and lived in Montreal for 30 years, Brenda moved back to her home town of Charlottetown five years ago and is now painting and illustrating full-time.
She will be in attendance throughout the exhibition.

Patricia Moore
Patricia Moore will exhibit a selection of her paintings in the Back Room Gallery from July 30 to August 5, 2013.
Included in the exhibition will be paintings from The Canal Series (2012-2013), work influenced by a painting trip and stay at a canal front location in the south. Moore notes about the series, "I watched the canal and saw the water move in and inch up the underpinning of the canal sides. When the tide moved out, the water lowered. I knew that the movement was old and unchanging, that whatever happened above the water had no deep effect on the constant and continuous change of water levels. The canal was a world of its own, much of it inexorable and much of it hidden".
Patricia graduated from Concordia and McGill Universities and also studied at Montreal's L'Ecole des Beaux Arts. She has exhibited across Canada and the United States and her work is in many private and public collections such as the Canada Council Art Bank, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, the Confederation Centre Art Gallery and Du Pont Canada, among others.
